There will always be something to worry about from what to eat or wear daily, to bills, working in a stressful environment, your wayward child, not being successful in life, and whether or not you would make a good spouse or parent, whether or not you’ll be able to submit your thesis on time or where to even start from, whether or not your parents are going to get divorced etc. Well, these issues are inevitable no matter your background. Let’s learn a few tips on how to stop worrying about every little thing.
What is Worry?
Worry is a feeling of uneasiness or deep concern about something bad that might happen or that something bad might happen to someone.
What Triggers Worry?
There are a myriad of things that could trigger worry in the mind of an individual and especially in our part of the world. These are only a few of them.
- Family background.
- Difficult/traumatizing childhood experiences.
- Fear of failure.
- Abuse of all forms including bullying in schools.
- Unemployment
When Do We Usually Experience Worry?
- When bad things happen.
- When things do not go according to plan.
- When you have no control over a situation or are helpless.
- When you do not anticipate a situation and hence, did not prepare for Plan B.
How to stop worrying and enjoy your life
Excessive worrying can cause stress, anxiety, and even physical health issues. It can also rob us of our happiness and prevent us from living in the present moment. However, there are a number of ways to stop worrying and start living a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
1. Write down your worries in a journal or on a piece of paper.
This might seem like a complete waste of time, but trust me, it helps to declutter your mind. Think of it as a safe place to offload your issues. As the saying goes, “A problem well-defined is a problem half-solved”. This gives you clarity and helps you find the root cause of the issue so that you can easily find a solution or reach out to someone who can.
2. Live in the present
Many of our worries stem from things that have not yet happened or that may never happen. Don’t be overly consumed about putting everything in its place. Focus on what you’re passionate about, and spend time enjoying your own company, your family and friends. Stop worrying, or worry will drain you.
Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells around you. Sometimes, the problems get resolved without even realising it, other times, your concentration on what matters most diminishes the issue so much that it’s nullified or made insignificant. Every day may present its own challenges but deal with them one step at a time.
3. Take action, letting go of what you can’t control
Sometimes, worrying can be a sign that we need to take action. If you are worried about something that you have control over, take action to address it. For example, if you are worried about a deadline at work or an assignment, create a plan to meet the deadline and take action on that plan or let Page Writer Ghana assist you with it.
However, there are some things in life that we cannot control, no matter how much we worry about them. It is important to recognize, accept and let them go. Refusing to let go, only piles up the frustration. Let go and let God!

4. Surround yourself with positivity and be grateful
The people and things that we surround ourselves with can have a big impact on our mood and mindset. Surround yourself with positivity. Spend time with people who uplift and support you. Listen to music that makes you feel happy and inspired. Read books or watch movies that make you feel good. It might not always be a good idea to bloom where you’re planted. Sometimes, it’s not where you’re supposed to be so your efforts go down the drain. In this case, you should change your environment.
Gratitude is a powerful tool for shifting your mindset from one of worry to one of positivity. Take time each day to reflect on the things in your life that you are grateful for. Say them out loud. This will help you to focus on the good things in your life and shift your mindset to one of abundance.

5. Get outside
Nature has a way of calming the mind and reducing anxiety. Take a walk outside or sit in a park or garden. Listen to the sounds of the birds and feel the sun on your skin (don’t burn, please). This will help you to feel more connected to the world around you and reduce your worries. Love travelling, do it. This will keep you refreshed and help you ooze with creativity on your next project.
6. Seek support
If your worries are causing you to feel overwhelmed or are impacting your daily life, seek support. Talk to a friend or family member. Consider seeing a therapist or counsellor. There is no shame in asking for help when you need it. This will help you to stop worrying and enjoy your life.
