Worrying only makes us feel like we’re reacting in an acceptable way in everyone else’s eyes, making them pity or sympathize with you. The good news is that, instead of worrying, there are a number of things you can do.
In this article, we’ll explore some effective strategies on what to do instead of worrying and find peace of mind.

Do these:
1. Control your thoughts
However, worrying can take a toll on our mental and physical health, leading to anxiety, stress, and even depression. What do you often think about, or better still, what comes to mind most when you’re not busy? Whatever, it is, whether or not its intentional, you should be mindful of it.
The Bible says, Whatever a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Your thoughts drive your body. Your mind is the power house. Positively powered thoughts are good for the heart and spirit.
A cheerful heart is like good medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
Why do people usually feel so miserable that they eventually fall ill, when they’re mistakenly diagnosed with a terminal disease or are scared of something that might probably not happen?
2. Engage in Physical Activity
Physical activity is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, which can often be the root of our worries. Engaging in regular exercise can help release endorphins, which are natural mood boosters. You can choose any physical activity that you enjoy, whether it’s jogging, swimming, or dancing. The key is to find an activity that you enjoy and can do regularly.
3. Connect with God
With your small circle of friends and family, deciding to share something intimate may not be ideal, if you’re an introvert like me. When you finally do, you’re likely to have thought about it a million times over.
I recently didn’t feel like talking to anyone one evening, and I was a bit angry at God too, but deep down, I needed Him to listen to all the trash I had to spill. I typed a few words on my phone’s notepad, which I wasn’t so proud of when I was done. It was a letter to God.
I felt so small when I was done, but we made up and I was fine. He’s whom I belong to and the source of my strength when I feel stuck.
What about you?
4. Learn Something New
This year, what new skills have you acquired? Who have you thought what you know?
Are you planning on furthering your education like you envision? How about learning something fun like swimming or dancing Kizomba/Salsa?
When your hands are tied up in things that bring you fulfillment, there isn’t enough time to worry, is there?
5. Express how you feel in a genuine venture
Writing in a journal may not be for everyone, there’s art: cooking, painting, designing, etc.
These can help you organise your thoughts to gain a new perspective. This describes one word, PASSION.

Overcoming worry is important because it is a feeling we can’t escape. We can only be conscious of it and face it head on, not by our strength, but by the Spirit of God. Doing it on your own leads to depression, anxiety and emptiness. Instead of worrying, the above-listed points will come in handy.
