Worry is real : COVID-19 anti-worry tips

worry

We are all susceptible to cringing in fear in many negative circumstances. That’s normal. Consciously or unconsciously, we yield to negative emotions like worry, anxiety and fear irrespective of our knowledge of the efficacy of the Word of God.

What we must realise is that our minds cannot be vacuums. It’s always filled with something; good or evil. Naturally, our inability to fill it with the Good News will automatically attract evil thoughts. In other words, lukewarm is not such a good idea according to Revelations 3:6

Revelations 3:6 (NLJV)

So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot,

I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Anyways, we must not lose hope! God does not want us to worry about anything. He already thought about it and therefore He has made provision for us to replace worry with peace.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

3 You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind stays on You,

Because he trusts in You.

I run into a friend the other day and asked him, “Hey, what’s up?”. I was amazed at his response! He remarked, “COVID-19”. It was exactly a  week after the ban on lockdown had been lifted in Ghana.

At first, I thought that was funny but it got me thinking as it didn’t seem like he was joking. Well, we’re all cautious in these critical moments but the way the words rolled off his tongue with ease indicated how lost he was in the COVID-19 scare. Yours might not be this pandemic but depression, pain, guilt, unforgiveness, fear of the unknown or persistent evil thoughts.

Let’s check out the world’s view.

Interestingly, the world says, “As we get older, become knowledgable and our responsibilities increase, our uncertainties also increase and so we worry. It makes us feel as though we are doing something about the situation when in reality we may not have any control over them”. We easily welcome negative thoughts and live in a state of paranoia.

Now, let’s take a look at “worry” this from God’s perspective.

Contrary to the world’s view, what you know does not matter as much as the faith you have in God. No wonder it is difficult for many little children who are thought Godly principles to be deceived. In many instances, the initial information is most likely to be perceived as the truth. Elsewhere, some children still believe in Santa Claus and unicorns. Hah! Not in our part of the world.

Furthermore, let’s carry this mentality of blinded faith as we grow older and not vice versa. We ought to fill our hearts with the Word of God and ask the Holy Spirit to be our reminder when we are sorely tempted.

Moreover, He’s always available if you ever need someone to talk to, you know. Do not fret. Be cautious.

In conclusion, take it off your shoulders and cast all your cares upon Him. If you give it to Him, He will take over.

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”.

More faith, less worry! God is the main deal.

Peace…
